Here and Now - Congress
Congress has delayed a vote to override President Bush's veto of the farm bill. It comes as members squabble over supplemental funding for the Iraq War. The heads of oil company were called to defend record profits amid never ending price increases. Click here to see testimony of oil execs before the senate Judiciary Committee. If the video doesn't pop up, click on this website and scroll down to the Judiciary Committee hearing.
Eric Reiman returns to Here and Now to discuss Alzheimer's research and talk about an Alzheimer's

I'm concerned that our members of Congress and Senators are caught in the human syndrome that enables us to rationalize the most immoral and evil behavior regarding wars against civilian populations, the rewarding of greed and profiteering, and unconstitutional acts against United States citizens and world populations. My question is what is it going to take for our elected representatives to stop rationalizing and politicizing these immoral acts and start standing up to humanitarian ideals of justice, peace, and fair dealing to our fellows?
Congress has failed to do its job. The war goes on because it is continuously funded...by Republicans as well as Democrats. The Republicans are clinging to a failed president and his policy for reasons I do not understand. Congressional Democrats right here in Arizona continue to fund the war for fear of not being re-elected.
Congress could have stopped this war when they came into office a year and a half ago by not passing a funding bill. It is their Constitutional duty to do so.
Gas Prices, Agriculture for fuel, sustainability, war...including the war against high fuel prices.
I feel that the commitment of an individual to the larger problems in the US are often shown by the amount of personal committment a person has. Could you ask the congressmen how much renewable energy they have on their personal homes? I have 8.4Kw/hrs.
Question for John Shadegg
Hi,
My name is Roger and I live in Shadegg's district.
I want to know: Why did you vote against the GI bill?
Thanks,
Roger
Question for Shadegg
Why did Congressman Shadegg vote against the 21st Century GI Bill, which would have given educational benefits to our men and women serving in Iraq?
A question for Mr. Shadegg
Are you concerned about recent polling numbers showing that you are very vulnerable in November going up against Bob Lord?
Thanks!
Becki
Senator Kyle;
Its lying scum - like you - that have converted a life-long Republican - like me- to a Democrat.
Congrats ...
Our government's failure to properly regulate the securities industry led to the excesses that required the Federal Reserve to bail them out by buying their bad loans and flooding the market with dollars. This process has exacerbated the devaluation of the dollar and driven up the price of oil. Do our representatives see the relationship and why isn't the securities and banking industry properly regulated?
you said you don't want to loose (the war in Iraq) - we've allready lost. Osama Bin Laden said in 2003 his
goal was to see the price of oil over $100 / barrel and to bankrupt the US - I think Al Quaida can say "mission accomplished".
