Here and Now: Terry Goddard
Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard will talk about the issues facing his office Wednesday, August 8 from 11am to noon. Goddard's office sponsors a new campaign aimed at reducing teenage addiction to Crystal Methamphetamine. AG investigators are currently looking into mail sent to seniors in an effort to stop scams aimed at that age group. The AG will soon hold crime forums around the state.
But some have questioned the performance of Terry Goddard. Critics say that Goddard's office is reaching in its probe of illegal human smuggling by asking for financial wire transfer records from other states and Mexico. Others have raised questions about his office's handling of the investigation of former state treasurer David Peterson.
Have a question or comment for the Attorney General? Post it below! Or call live on Wednesday, August 8 from 11 am to noon.

Mr. Goddard as a long time fan and supporter of yours, I can only hope that this e-mail finds its way to you.
As a high school counselor, and speaking on behalf of numerous educators throughout the state, there are two primary questions that continue to surface regarding immigration status, especially at the high school level.
First; countless numbers of our students have had “Petition for Relative” cases bogged down in the immigration system for years. With respect to immigration status and the Attorney Generals office, are these high school students, and students that have recently graduated through the Arizona educational system considered undocumented, legal or illegal? Can they work?
Second; considering that the state of Arizona has spent millions of taxpayers dollars educating undocumented students, and will probably do so in the future, what is the rationale for denying undocumented students the opportunity to eventually work and repay those tax dollars after they graduate? In addition, what is the Attorney General’s stance on the Dream Act and how does it line up with the Governors view?
Bonus question: If Terry Goddard was a high school counselor, what would he say to these undocumented students during their senior year of high school with little or no options for employment or continuing their educations?
Thank you on behalf of all high school counselors. We’ll be listening for your response.
Sincerely,
Joe Rodrigues
Counselor
Arizona has a long tradition of fraudulent schemes based on bogus mineral wealth. With the current surge in precious and base metals prices we seem to have an increase in the number of mining scams centered on Arizona properties. As an attorney specializing in mining and natural resources law, I believe more of these schemes are going on now than at any time since the fools' gold rushes of the 1980's.
When the State of Arizona and the Attorney General's Office are confronted with different types of scams, what factors determine allocation of law enforcement resources?

Is there any investigation going on in Arizona regarding the operation of Hospices in this state? I am an RN that reported a hospice, a former employer, to the Dep. Of Health because of some serious patient care issues that I witnessed while employed by this hospice. I had been fired from the hospice ostensibly because of job related problems. I believe I was actually fired because I spoke up frequently and emphatically about the issues I saw, which included several instances of harm done to patients. When the Department of Health arrived to investigate the complaint which detailed the instances of patient harm, my former employer withheld parts of the patients' charts from her and blatantly lied to the investigator. The investigator, based on what this hospice told her during the few hours she spent at their office, recommended that I be reported to the Board of Nursing. I endured nearly a year of intensive investigation by the BRN, at the end of which, the complaint filed by my former employer was dismissed by the Board as being baseless. I was told by the Director of the Department of Health, who I spoke to several times about the handling of the complaint, that she would consider asking the Attorney General to investigate whether this hospice was involved in fraud. I have heard nothing further from her. I believe this for-profit hospice, and possibly other hospices in this state, are defrauding MediCare by billing for unsafe, substandard care, inappropriate admissions and services that they are not providing. Is this something your office is looking into?
