Legislative Update; Fire Season Preview

Both the Arizona House and Senate have passed budgets. Now members of both chambers meet to hammer out the differences. Here and Now looks at budget negotiations and remaining bills lawmakers want to address before concluding their legislative session. Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to wildfire season. Here and Now will look at what kind of season fire officials expect the summer of 2007 to be. The show will also look at the state's preparedness and what individuals need to do to prevent human caused fires. Your comments and questions are welcome!

If you live in an area where wildfire can strike, we'd like to hear from you. Any concerns, suggestions, or ideas?

Thanks!

The forest service puts way to much trust in people. People need to be patrolled once in the woods. Education such as ads, commercials etc., might reach 5-10% of these people, the others will continue to burn camp fires, ride there destructive OHV,s and shoot there guns. The woods become unmitigated play grounds when people go into them. There is a huge lack of enforcement of the rules in the woods.

Can your panelists comment on the status of HB2515 - the Murphy Bill with the Cheuvront Amendment, which would curb tax subsidies from municipalities for private retail developments? Specifically, I'm thinking of Phoenix's gift to build a $100M parking lot for CityNorth and Surprise's $200M+ gift for a shopping mall. Sponsors have SAID there was bi-partisan support for this bill, but WHERE IS IT?
