Bill Regulating Food Trucks May Change After Worries About Push-Cart Vendors

A Republican representative who introduced legislation loosening rules for food trucks says he’s now changing the bill after critics said it could harm push-cart vendors.

Kevin Payne says he’s now working with Democratic Rep. Cesar Chavez on House Bill 2371, after a local nonprofit started a campaign against the measure and Phoenix New Times published a story on it. Payne, who’s open about owning a barbecue food truck himself, said his bill is about making business easier for all food vendors – not about targeting anyone.

She said Easley’s has become a family tradition for some people.

ADOT Reopens Three Highways To Lakes In White Mountains

The Arizona Department of Transportation will reopen three state highways to lakes in the White Mountains this week. Garin Groff is a spokesman for ADOT. He said the routes should reopen on Thursday.

"Two of the highways lead to Big Lake," Groff said. "They are 261 from Eagar to Big Lake and 273 from Sunrise Park to Big Lake. Also 473 will open from State Route 260 to Hawley Lake.”

Groff said those highways close every winter because the parks at the end of them are closed during the cold season. He said it’s typical for them to reopen during this time of year.
