The university broke ground last Wednesday.

ASU President Michael Crow called Mirabella the “world’s coolest dorm” at Wednesday’s groundbreaking ceremony. That’s because residents at Mirabella will be able to take classes at ASU just like students.

Paul Riepma is vice president of Pacific Retirement Services, which is collaborating with ASU on the project.

"Right now we have about 80 percent of the homes reserved. There’s a total of 252 view residents in the tower … we’ve never had one this quick in its presale process," Riepma said.

Mirabella is set to open in 2020 on the corner of Mill and University. It is a buy-in community with prices starting at more than $300,000, as well as monthly fees.
