Arizona Cardinals Introduces Steve Wilks As Head Football Coach
The Arizona Cardinals introduced Steve Wilks as the team’s new head coach Tuesday at the team’s headquarters in Tempe.
The 48-year-old Wilks spent the last six seasons as a defensive coach with the Carolina Panthers, who made four playoff appearances over that span, including a trip to Super Bowl 50 two seasons ago.
Wilks said he wants to establish a winning culture with the Cardinals.
“It’s about a commitment to excellence, and everything that we do is predicated towards that," Wilks said. "Again, it’s many parts but one body of work, and we’re all working towards one common goal, and that’s to bring a world championship to the Arizona Cardinals.”
Team president Michael Bidwell praised Wilks, saying that he is not only a smart football coach but also good with connecting with his players.
Wilks replaces Bruce Arians, who retired this month.
