MD Helicopters In Mesa Awarded $1.4 Billion Army Contract

A company located in Mesa was awarded a windfall contract from the Army for almost $1.4 billion this week. MD Helicopters will now need to hire over 100 new workers to build 150 helicopters over the next five years — 30 of those going to the Afghan Air Force.

It’s a high-profile job that suits the company’s fiery CEO,  and The Show’s Lauren Gilger joins us now with more on this.

So this company’s CEO is named Lynn Tilton, and she’s found herself in the spotlight in the past — and not always for good news.

The Republic’s Lily Altavena has been following the company and this deal and I spoke with her more about it, what it means for this company and for Mesa.
