The pavillion in the artist rendering of the Desert Discovery Center.

Architects behind the proposed Desert Discovery Center in Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve have unveiled their plans for the project.

They include a new name, Desert EDGE, and call for a smaller footprint — and smaller budget — than originally envisioned.

With me to talk about the plans is John Sather. He’s a senior partner at Swaback Partners in Scottsdale and lead architect on the project.

There will be two public meetings on the plans Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 4 to 7 p.m. at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts.
