Native Health Expands In Mesa
Wellness organization Native Health will soon open a Mesa location to serve what they say is a growing need for health care in the East Valley.
The nonprofit offers everything from dental to mental-health care and focuses on the urban Indian population.
“It’s important because they’re comfortable accessing care where they’re comfortable going, where their privacy is respected and so is their cultural values,” CEO Walter Murillo said.
Native Health’s main office is in central Phoenix, and it already has an extension in west Phoenix.
“It was very important for us to go to where the patients are because transportation is a great big barrier to care,” Murillo said.
In the next few weeks, the East Valley location at Southern Avenue and Extension Road will begin offering enrollment in programs such as AHCCCS, SNAP and cash assistance. Behavioral health services will come next and a full medical clinic is scheduled to be open in 2018.
