Arizona is on the verge of its first-ever rules for tracking a cell phone.

While tapping a phone to listen in requires a warrant, existing law is silent on the use of devices that can track its location.
 
A new law will require police have a warrant and meet specific requirements to use cell tracking equipment. Officers must also notify the person within 90-days after surveillance has ended.
 
A lawsuit against Tucson's Police Department revealed investigators used the cell phone tracking hardware without first getting a warrant.
