This week, it was made public that one of Arizona’s more prominent arts philanthropists had died.

Gary Herberger passed away at the age of 79. He was an architect who had trained under Frank Lloyd Wright. And his family has famously given to institutions around the Valley and state.

We talked about the significance of Herberger’s death — and the future of arts philanthropy in Arizona — with Steven Tepper, dean of the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at ASU.
