MIHS Opens Unit For Teens Who Need Mental-Health Care

For years, there has been a shortage of beds for teens who have mental-health issues in our community. But now, the Maricopa Integrated Health Systems is giving some of them a place to go.

MIHS just opened a new adolescent unit this week with 14 new beds for young people between the ages of 13 and 17 who need immediate specialized care to treat psychiatric problems.

To learn more about this new unit and what’s behind it, I’m joined by Dr. Carol Olson, chair of the Psychiatry Department at MIHS.
