Northern Mexico fires could cause health problems in Cochise County

June 25, 2013

Cochise County health officials are warning that  fires in northern Mexico near Cananea could cause health problems. Three fires are burning about 15 miles south of the U.S. Mexico border, but strong winds could blow smoke into portions of Cochise County.

Health officials are warning people who experience heavy smoke from the fires should stay indoors with doors and windows closed. Air quality will likely be a concern as long as the fires continue to burn.

There is no word on when they might be contained.
