Grijalva and legislators urge interior secretary to revamp mustang program

June 21, 2013

Congressman Raúl Grijalva and 29 congressional members sent a letter to the Interior Secretary Sally Jewell on Thursday, asking her to reform the Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse and Burro Program. Earlier this month, a national panel of wildlife experts released a report on the agency saying it is mishandling the program. It found that the use of round-ups and stockpiling to control the wildlife mustang population is expensive and is instead increasing the population.
