We’re in the middle of fall, but that was hard to believe during last week’s record-setting heat wave. Phoenix had one of its warmest Octobers ever this year.

The city set a record of 26 consecutive days with temperatures of at least 90 degrees this October. The previous mark was 25 straight days during October of 1952. The National Weather Service reports Phoenix's high of 100 last Thursday was a record for that date, Oct. 27. It was also the latest date the city has seen a 100-degree day.

This week is projected to be much cooler, with highs in the low to mid 80s, and lows that might even dip into the 50s overnight.
