Liberty Elementary School District bus pulls up at the end of the day in Buckeye.

School districts across the state received the first Proposition 123 money Thursday. Some schools will still be pushing for overrides in the November election.

The six-school Liberty Elementary School District in Buckeye was looking at cutting teaching positions if education-funding measure Proposition 123 did not pass. But, it did, and the district added hundreds of thousands of dollars to the budget.

Still, the district will put a 10 percent override on the November ballot for voters.

The decision comes after Liberty was one of only two districts to have an override fail last year.

School officials say Prop 123 money won’t be enough to sustain their programs in the coming years.
