Slide Fire Hurts Business Sales

The Slide Fire is not just threatening homes in northern Arizona. Businesses in the Sedona-Oak Creek area say their Memorial Day sales have gone up in smoke.  Carrie Buck is co-owner of the Black Cow Café.

“Memorial weekend is typically the busiest weekend of the year for us, Sunday being the busiest day of the entire year. I think all the uptown merchants look forward to that and we were down probably close to 50 percent for the weekend," Buck said.

Buck says they’re hopeful they’ll see a surge in business over the 4th of July weekend, when the fire will be out and people begin to feel safe to vacation in Sedona again.
