Over the weekend the Arizona Diamondbacks took a dramatic step in the midst of a below-average season. Usually the teams will fire the manager or general manager. Instead, the Diamondbacks hired someone new to oversee the management team that is already in place.

The many they hired is universally considered one of the greatest managers in baseball history, Hall of Famer Tony La Russa. We spoke to La Russa's new boss, Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall.
