Arizona Job Growth Predicted To Be Sluggish Through 2015

A new economic forecast from the Arizona Department of Administration indicates continued sluggish job growth through 2015.

Senior economist Dr. Aruna Murthy says it’s a vicious cycle of falling real wages and thrift.

“We have less money, we are increasing the savings and we are paying down the debt,” Murthy said. “We’re left with very little to spend. One is acting on the other and we are in a kind of a bind in some ways.”

Murthy predicts job growth of 2.1 percent through the rest of the year and 2.4 percent in 2015, figures she calls slow and sub-par.

She says the largest percentage of job growth will be in construction, with the most jobs created in the education and health sectors.
