A group of concerned employees at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Medical Center have released a letter to local media outlining concerns they have about the facility. They’re calling for an independent review of hospital operations.

The letter was written by a group calling themselves the "Concerned Employees of the Phoenix VA Health Care System." It addressed several issues at the hospital including the recent operating room shut down.

The letter also released the names and details of four veteran suicides in 2015 due to what they say was a lack of proper care from the Phoenix VA.

"I believe what this group is trying to do is get congressional oversight," said Brandon Coleman, a VA addiction therapist and whistleblower who has testified before congress. "Because what happens whenever an investigation occurs quite often the VA is allowed to investigate itself."

Coleman is not a member of the group, but has agreed to occasionally act as their spokesman. He's also forwarded their letter to members of Congress. Coleman explains the group is made up of current employees. They’ve asked to remain anonymous out of fear of losing their jobs.

Officials with the Phoenix VA have not yet responded to a request for comment.
