This is the ad ferry riders in Seattle see as they enter the terminal to the ferries.

Arizona has often promoted tourism in other parts of the country during the colder months. But this year Arizona shares the same weather forecast as the city where the state Office of Tourism is promoting the ads.

Cold and rainy, that’s often the forecast associated with Seattle — not Phoenix. That’s why the Arizona Office of Tourism chose the northwest city as the best place to promote a vacation in the Grand Canyon State.

Starting this month, the AOT will share “random acts of sunshine” and adorn two ferries traveling across the Puget Sound in Seattle. The ferries will feature images of what Arizona looks like 325 days of the year.

Debbie Johnson with the tourism office said our recent weather has been unusual, but that just means we’re getting our rainy days out of the way.

“It’s going to be beautiful on Monday, and all through next week. We just happen to be going through kind of a rough time right now, so that’s unfortunate. But, I still think that people will understand,” she said.

Johnson said the office typically focuses winter promotions in much colder locations on the east coast and in the Midwest.
