ALEC Holds Summit In Phoenix, But Arizona Politicians Disagree On Council's Effectiveness

Many political observers decry the influence of money in elections, whether overtly or less obviously.

One of the groups most ripe for criticism is the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, which is holding its States and Nation Policy Summit in Phoenix this week. State Senator John Kavanagh has worked closely with ALEC and said it’s doing good work.

A number of Arizona Democrats are unhappy about ALEC’s influence, and some of the harsher critics say the group is buying lawmakers. Former Minority Leader Chad Campbell spoke about the issue.
