A new website has been created to provide information on how Valley cities will handle drought.

The Arizona Municipal Water Users Association updated its website to include a section that highlights 10 Valley cities’ plans to combat drought. Executive Director Kathleen Ferris said so much misinformation on water supply issues spurred the group to create a more informative resource.

“In the last year or so, we’ve decided to become more proactive about our work and about the things we’re doing and about our member cities’ successes,” said Ferris. “We also think it’s really important to address questions that are out there about water management in this Valley.”

For example, Phoenix’s plan on the website includes potentially restricting water used outdoors. That includes the water used in fountains and on irrigation.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Agriculture designated all of Arizona a natural-disaster area for drought earlier this month.
