Sylvia Earle was named Time Magazine’s first Hero of the Planet.

The argument has been made that the world has spent too much time and money exploring outer space at the expense of the Earth’s oceans.

There’s also an active concern about whether we’re protecting the oceans enough and keeping them healthy. National Geographic Explorer and oceanographer Sylvia Earle spoke about those issues. Earle is affectionately known as “Her Deepness.” She was also named Time Magazine’s first Hero of the Planet.
