Arizona health officials announce shipments of this year’s flu vaccine are here and they’re asking everyone to get one.

Dr. Karen Lewis, director of the department’s immunization program, said people need to take influenza seriously.

“Influenza is an illness that hits you rapidly with a high fever, muscle aches, extreme exhaustion, along with cough and runny nose and sore throat,” she said.

Lewis said the vaccine is cheap and covered by most insurance plans. She said expectant mothers may also need to get a whooping cough vaccination to protect their unborn children.
