There are 600 pages of proposed rules for the state's Department of Child Safety, and foster family advocates are saying not enough is being done to educate people about what may be changing.

The Arizona Daily Star reports  department spokesman Doug Nick said the agency is getting the word out as best it can. He said he could not provide a list of the proposed changes, but that everything has been open for public comment.

Foster parent Ron Adelson heads Aid to Adoption of Special Kids and said the average person is not being educated about the changes.

Foster Children's Rights Coalition director Dawn Teo said the proposed rule changes were buried on the DCS website, and that more should have been done to inform people.

The state is accepting public comment ahead of an Oct. 26 approval deadline.
