Gladiator Fire completely contained

June 13, 2012

Fire crews have fully contained the Gladiator Fire near Crown King in northern Arizona. Officials say certain areas are still closed for safety reasons, but residents are allowed to return to their homes. KJZZ’s Nadine Arroyo Rodriguez reports.

Fire officials will continue to monitor the area for the next few weeks to assure the fire will not start up again.

Crown King residents have returned to their homes and businesses are now open to the public.

Six structures were destroyed by the blaze, and eight people were injured. The Gladiator Fire started a month ago when a home became engulfed in flames. It burned more than 16,000 acres of land. The forest service says it spent $14 million fighting the Gladiator Fire.

A fire restriction is now in place for the Prescott National Forest and a fire ban in Yavapai County.
