Bad weather in other parts of the country could mean good news for Valley tourism. The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau does not mind all the talk about this winter’s freezing temperatures throughout much of the nation. In fact, the Scottsdale tourism agency is hoping this year’s chilly Super Bowl in New York will remind people they can thaw out here in Arizona. Bureau spokeswoman Rachel Pearson said they have started a new marketing blitz with digital signs and transit wraps of scenic Scottsdale images and its warm wintertime temperatures.

“Our subway wraps in New York are running throughout the month of Feb., but the week leading up to the Super Bowl, we have 50 digital ad boards that are at the entrance to all of the various subway stations throughout Manhattan that are promoting Scottsdale and encouraging customers of New York and visitors for the Super Bowl, that Scottsdale is the place to warm up," Pearson explained.

Ads promoting Scottsdale will also attempt to catch the eye of Chicago commuters on the city’s Blue Line connecting O’Hare International Airport with downtown and 100 other ad boards in the Midwestern city. Pearson said despite the economy looking better, Scottsdale still wants to see tourist numbers increase this year, continuing to next year’s Super Bowl in Glendale.
