At Combs High School in San Tan Valley, which held its graduation last night,  English and creative-writing teacher Jess Burnquist surveys graduating seniors about what they learned.

The responses range from practical like “don’t procrastinate,” to correcting misconceptions like “no one ever bursts into song in the cafeteria.”

Burnquist talks about why she started the survey and what she has learned from students.

One of Burnquist's students is Mattie Whitt, 18, just graduated from Combs High School in San Tan Valley. She talks about her experiences in high school and her plans for the future.
