Arizona is joining several other states in asking Congress to continue funding programs to combat human trafficking.

Attorney General Tom Horne says the sexual exploitation of young women and girls is a growing problem.

“Human trafficking generates $32 billion a year,” Horne said. “It’s second only to drug trafficking as a leap, an illegal enterprise.”

Horne says the funding is especially crucial in Arizona as it prepares to host the Super Bowl in 2015. He says the influx of men for events like that tends to increase underage sex trafficking.
