A new report shows tourists are spending more at National Parks in Arizona. Agency analysis shows tourists spent more than $800 million in the state in 2014.

Since 2013, spending levels at the state’s parks increased about 8 percent. That’s coupled with a roughly 6 percent increase in total visitation.

Rick Frost is a National Park Service spokesman. He said it’s part of a modest trend following the economic recession in 2008.

"People are starting to recover from that," Frost said. "The economy is starting to pick up and we’re seeing people coming back out to the parks in greater numbers."

The analysis shows visitors spent the most on lodging followed by food and gas.
