Investigators are releasing more information about a plane crash on a Yuma Marine Base earlier this month that cost one Marine his life.

The National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report says the March 11 crash took place as a civilian plane took off from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.

As the pilot banked to the side during takeoff, the National Transportation Safety Board said the plane’s right wing struck a truck that was escorting a construction crew working near the runway.

Lance Corporal Anthony DuBeau, 23, of Kenosha, Wis., was in the truck working with the contractor.  He was killed in the crash about 140 feet from the edge of the runway.

The plane’s pilot and a passenger were not injured in the crash.
