You may have heard this weekend about an Amber Alert issued after a Buckeye teen, who has suffered from depression and recently tried to harm herself, took her 8-year-old and 1-year-old sisters and left home in her mother’s vehicle.

Joaquin Enriquez of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says they got plenty of tips.

“The Amber Alert was actually put out and we were receiving many tips and information in reference to the 16-year-old girl that had taken the vehicle and the two girls,” Enriquez said.

The Alert was canceled when the teen returned home with her sisters, a few hours later. Enriquez says the teen is facing two counts each of endangerment and custodial interference and charges related to stealing the car. He says the sheriff’s office is not looking into the reasons the younger girls were left with the 16-year-old.
