Residents of the Prescott area held a vigil in memory of humanitarian aid worker Kayla Mueller, who died while in the captivity of the Islamic State. Her brother Eric Mueller told the gathering that the family appreciates the support it has received and urged those in attendance to use Kayla’s life as an example.

“Do what she would do," he said. "If you see somebody struggling, you see somebody upset, go give ‘em a hug. Do what Kayla would do. Make the community even stronger. That’s all it’s gonna do."

Kayla Mueller’s parents, Carl and Marsha attended the vigil but did not speak. The crowd lit candles toward the end of the ceremony and followed Carl Mueller’s lead as he stretched his candle toward the sky.
