The Speaker of the Arizona House Andy Tobin says lawmakers are on target for wrapping up their session, but he's willing to put on the brakes to give Governor Jan Brewer a break. “The governor has asked us to please slow down,” Tobin said.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said cases of Valley Fever in Arizona and some other Southwestern states rose dramatically between 1998 and 2011. The CDC says there were a little more than 2,200 cases in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah in 1998 , but that by 2011, those states reported more than 22,000 cases.

The Tucson City Council voted Tuesday to support proposed state legislation that seeks to crack down on people who fire off guns while intoxicated. The bill would make it a felony for a person with a blood alcohol reading greater than the legal limit to shoot a firearm.

Tuition is going up again at Maricopa County Community Colleges after the governing board approved a second tuition hike in three years. The decision, which came last night, will mean another $12.5 million in revenues for the district.

Eddie Basha, the CEO and Chairman of the Bashas' family-owned grocery store chain in Arizona died yesterday. Basha's family said he had been ill for some time. Basha was an Arizona Board of Regent member for several years and also ran for governor.

Arizona educators are remembering Eddie Basha for his dedication to public schools and children in need.  The businessman and philanthropist died Tuesday at age 75.  He’s probably best known for the chain of grocery stores that his family started in Arizona, but Eddie Basha also served on the State Board of Regents and ran for governor in the 1990s.
