The Yarnell
Hill Fire killed 19 firefighters and destroyed about a quarter of the homes in Yarnell
at the end of June, and almost immediately the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group was
formed by local residents.

A new Rocky Mountain poll indicates Arizona voters are divided on the job being
done by Republican Gov.Jan Brewer. Jim Haynes is with the Behavior Research
Center in Phoenix.
“Thirty-one percent rates the governor highly—that is doing

A state legislative committee will meet this month to review proposals to help the families of the 19 firefighters killed in the Yarnell Hill wildfire. Arizona House Speaker Andy Tobin of Prescott Valley plans to introduce bills that would provide retroactive state benefits to the families.

It probably wasn't Woodward and Bernstein or the filmmakers behind "All The President’s Men" who coined the phrase ‘follow the money.' Neither legendary reporter covered the machine of college athletics, which seems to run thanks to the millions and even billions of dollars fed into it by TV networks and sponsors, but until very recently despite convincing, logical op-eds in national newspapers, the concept of truly sharing those funds with student-athletes seemed unlikely.

It looks like a bid to block the Medicaid expansion at the
ballot may fall short. The state currently provides for most people below the
poverty level of about $19,500 a year, for a family of three. The plan confirmed
by state lawmakers would tax hospitals to expand eligibility to 138-percent of
the poverty level.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office said a 27-year-old man is recovering after his legs were crushed by a 30-ton boulder, dislodged during recent rains along the Mount Eldon Lookout Road. Gerry Blair is a spokesman for the Sheriff's office and said the victim was part of a group heading up the mountain to work on the radio towers there.
