Cuban trumpeter and composer Arturo Sandoval studied classical music at 13  in Cuba.  He listened to every American record he could find especially Dizzy Gillespie and Clifford Brown. In Cuba, Sandoval co-founded the band Irakere with Paquito D'Rivera.

Of all the ballots cast this week in Arizona, more than 172,000 of them were provisional, according to data compiled from the Secretary of State.  From Phoenix, Jude Joffe-Block reports more provisional ballots were cast in Maricopa County this election than last presidential election.

A federal Judge in Tucson has sentenced Jared Loughner to seven consecutive life terms, and an additional 140 years.  Victims of the January 2011 shooting and their families took turns speaking to Loughner this morning, including Mark Kelly, the husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
