Border Patrol said the Office of Air and Marine rescued an undocumented immigrant who fell and injured himself while hiking in the mountains southwest of Tucson. Border Patrol spokesman Victor Brabble said a helicopter was deployed to lower a paramedic into the rugged area to help the man with a head injury and broken pelvis.

Arizonans continue to pay less to fill up their gas tanks. AAA said the statewide average price of a gallon of unleaded was $3.39 Friday, and spokeswoman Michell Donatti said that is considerably less than elsewhere in the country.

The city of Prescott announced they will remove the temporary memorial for the firefighters killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire. The memorial at Prescott's Station 7 stretches entirely around the building.

A state legislative committee will meet this month to review proposals to help the families of the 19 firefighters killed in the Yarnell Hill wildfire.  Arizona House Speaker Andy Tobin of Prescott Valley plans to introduce bills that would provide retroactive state benefits to the families.

An Arizona woman convicted in connection with the murder of her 4-year-old son in 1989, has been granted bail. Debra Milke is awaiting retrial on the charges. The retrial and bail are the result of a now questionable confession.

Tucson Electric Power says it is diversifying its energy portfolio, which will mean generating more power from renewable sources.The company says it is attempting to take advantage of low natural gas prices by entering into talks with Entegra Power Group to buy its gas-fired generating unit at the Gila River Generating Station in Gila Bend.

Seven javelinas were euthanized in Tucson after the group attacked a woman. The attack was not an isolated incident. The woman received puncture wounds from unprovoked javelinas while walking her dog.

The town of Marana has said no to medical marijuana farms, unless they are located in a legal dispensary. The town council voted unanimously to ban off-site pot growing. The council echoed what the planning commission and police chief had already said, off-site pot growing could be bad for Marana’s future.

"First Friday" has become a major event in Phoenix, when thousands head to galleries mostly in and around downtown to discover new artists and works or just have a good time. For some, First Friday has modified the perception of the Valley as being less than welcoming to non-traditional perspectives on art, but a disagreement between the Herberger Theatre Center and guest curator Robrt Pela, a longtime contributor to KJZZ, occured.

He had been a respected attorney and judge in Arizona for nearly 40 years and even played football at Notre Dame as a college kid, but in the annals of this state’s political history, French is known as the lead prosecutor in the impeachment trial of then-Gov.
