Phoenix residents had a chance to ask city officials and first responders questions about the results of the newly released Community Needs Assessment for People With Mental Illness. The study surveyed both law enforcement and residents with mental health issues.
You can deny it all you want, but Tax Day is fast approaching. Taxes are due this year on Tuesday, April 18. Bill Brunson with the IRS in Phoenix says each year, more and more Arizona residents are opting to file their taxes electronically.
“I think the best way to build trust is to provide excellent service,” U.S. Rep. Krysten Sinema said. “Because veterans will share with other veterans about whether or not they’ve received excellent service.”
This month, the LGBT community celebrated inclusiveness and diversity with the Phoenix Pride Parade. But about 100 activists staged a demonstration in the middle of the parade and asked for a larger voice in the Pride movement. They were from the group Trans Queer Pueblo, or TQP, which advocates for the rights of undocumented immigrants within the LGBTQ community.
In August 2014, a Phoenix police sergeant shot and killed Michelle Cusseaux, a mentally ill woman who answered the door with a hammer when officers came to take her to an inpatient psychiatric facility. It also prompted extensive reforms within the Phoenix Police Department.
