The state's two newest justices of the Arizona Supreme Court were sworn in Monday. Gov. Doug Ducey said at the ceremony that Court of Appeals Judge Andrew Gould and Solicitor General John Lopez understand that “a judge’s role is to interpret the laws, not make them.”
A kind of ecological treasure hunt is underway in northern Arizona for thousands of springs scattered across the landscape. It’s such a vast area it’s hard to find them and monitor their health. So scientists are training ordinary citizens to help them in the search.
The Arizona State Board of Education on Monday approved English Language Arts and mathematics classroom standards to replace 2010’s Common Core. The new standards include teaching reading and writing cursive from kindergarten through fifth grade.
