The Supreme Court ruled federal courts must recognize tribal convictions when determining if a domestic violence offender should legally be considered “habitual”. Repeated convictions for domestic violence can lead to stiffer prison sentences.

Every year, Phoenix collects more than 30,000 tons of palm fronds. According to the Public Works Department, loading and driving the fronds more than 50 miles to Buckeye where the city’s landfill is located costs $17 a ton. Palm Silage LLC is offering to take them for no more than $12 a ton.
Fire officials say they expect all residents of a north-central Arizona town who were evacuated due to a brush fire to be allowed to return home Saturday night. The Tenderfoot Fire has scorched an estimated 3,400 acres and is 30-percent contained.
