More bad news for the Phoenix Coyotes. The NHL is ready to cancel games through the end of November. Meantime, the Coyotes continue to be owned by the League, with prospective owner Greg Jamieson unable to close the deal, because of the player lockout and efforts by the City of Glendale to rework its 20-year, $324 million deal with him.

The presence of independent expenditure groups in the current election season has been dominant, with millions of dollars flowing in for and against candidates and ballot measures. The Arizona-based Americans for Responsible Leadership has been directing money against Proposition 204—the so-called quality education and jobs initiative—and Proposition 121, also known as open elections/open government.

A handful of Valley residents have accused Jeff Flake’s Senate campaign of trying to suppress Democratic voter turnout, but Flake says it’s much ado about a mistake. The story first broke Sunday night on Phoenix’s Channel 12, with a report on several registered Democrats who said they received robocalls encouraging them to vote for Republican candidate Flake and reminding them of their polling place -- only trouble is that it was the wrong location.

When most Arizonans went to sleep on Tuesday night, they still did not know who would represent the state's newest congressional district. From Phoenix, Jude Joffe-Block reports the 9th Congressional District race hasn't been called yet, with unofficial results showing the Democrat leading by about 2,100 votes, or less than 1.

According to new numbers from the Census Bureau more elderly Americans are living alone. Governor Jan Brewer told the Obama administration Wednesday she’s not interested in setting-up a state run health exchange, one of the provisions of the Affordable Care Act. The state instead is going to take part in a federally operated exchange, according to the Governor’s spokesman Matt Benson.
