President Obama is scheduled to sign a bill Friday that will lower college student loan rates. After months of congressional wrangling and a missed deadline, loan rates doubled on July 1. The Senate and House approved a new bill just before the summer recess.

A jury had convicted Michael David Turley in June of endangerment and knowingly giving a false impression – this after he sent his 16-year old nephew into a busy Northwest Phoenix intersection with a fake grenade launcher in July, 2012.

Phoenix city manager David Cavazos has officially been hired by the city of Santa Ana, Calif. The council approved his contract earlier this week. Cavazos' base salary as the city manager for Santa Ana will be the same as his Phoenix salary, $315,000 annually, but when you add in benefits, his total compensation will be more than $558,000.

Phoenix City Manager David Cavazos seemed to take everyone by surprise when he submitted his resignation recently. Cavazos had been on the job for four years after succeeding Frank Fairbanks who by holding the position for 19 years was the longest-serving manager in Phoenix history.
