The chemical spill into Colorado’s Animas River has made its way downstream and is now affecting the Navajo Nation. The Navajo Farming Authority has shut off public water intakes and irrigation canals. And that leaves hundreds of Navajo farmers driving long distances to water their crops.
Take a hike and do it right. That’s the message from the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department. The extreme heat hasn’t discouraged hikers from climbing local trailheads. And that has forced park rangers to take extra safety measures.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced it will build its first Tucson-area temple. Members of the church don't go to temples to worship on Sundays; in fact they’re not even open that day. Sunday services take place in the more than a dozen meetinghouses in the area.
We remember Grant Tinker, who died last month at 90. He founded MTM productions with his then-wife Mary Tyler Moore and produced her hit TV show. Later as chairman of NBC, Tinker oversaw the hit shows Cheers, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere.
