A man accused of robbing drug smugglers after they sneaked across the border into the U.S. will be sentenced next month. Rito Osorio-Arellanes will face sentencing in federal court on a conspiracy conviction December 17.

Maricopa County will pay $3.25 million to the family of Deborah Braillard. Court records show she died in the county jail in January 2005 after she was denied treatment for diabetes. KJZZ’s Al Macias reports.

A new report from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows more than 8 percent of Americans had diabetes as of 2010. In Arizona, it found 7.5 percent of residents with the disease, a more than 56-percent increase since 1995.

More people took mass transit to get to their metro Phoenix destinations last month than in any month ever.  Valley Metro says ridership during October topped 7 million trips for the first time, with bus and light rail ridership increasing 10 percent, according to spokeswoman Susan Tierney.

Two weeks after the polls closed, every ballot cast in Maricopa County from this month's presidential election should be counted by Tuesday. That's according to County Recorder Helen Purcell.She says much of the delay was caused by the large number of provisional ballots that were cast.
