Supporters of soon-to-be former Senate President Russell Pearce say the idea to have another candidate in the race to divert votes backfired.  Olivia Cortes dropped out of the recall election after she revealed in court that she had no idea who paid for people to collect signatures or who paid for and put up signs with her name on them.

The architect of Arizona’s controversial immigration law is out.  Russell Pearce is the first lawmaker in state history to lose his seat in a recall election.  It was a dramatic fall for a tough-talking Tea Party favorite who became one of Arizona’s most powerful politicians.

Child care advocates are asking Governor Jan Brewer to restore almost 14 million dollars that were cut this year from child care subsidies…used by low income parents.  The current state budget eliminates all general fund support for the program.

Some of the original backers of the Independent Redistricting Commission say the Governor and state Republican senators went too far in removing its chair.  Colleen Mathis was dismissed earlier this week for what Governor Brewer called “substantial neglect of duty or gross misconduct in office.

The Arizona Supreme Court will be asked to decide if Governor Brewer’s removal of the chair of the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission is legal.   An attorney for I-R-C chair Colleen Mathis says his client wasn’t afforded due process.
