It appears more people than normal across the Valley were forced to cast provisional ballots this Election Day. Aaron Wilson, 32, said he waited in line for 45 minutes because his polling site at Tempe High School had run out of provisional ballots, but no one could tell him when more would arrive.

The Arizona’s environmental agency says a southwest area being requested as a critical habitat for a wild cat is not necessary.In August, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed that 1,300 acres of land in Arizona and New Mexico be designated as a critical habitat for jaguars.

A handful of Valley residents have accused Jeff Flake’s Senate campaign of trying to suppress Democratic voter turnout, but Flake says it’s much ado about a mistake. The story first broke Sunday night on Phoenix’s Channel 12, with a report on several registered Democrats who said they received robocalls encouraging them to vote for Republican candidate Flake and reminding them of their polling place -- only trouble is that it was the wrong location.

SRP and APS crews on the East Coast are working steadily toward restoring power to homes, schools, and businesses, while preparing for another storm to move into the area. The Arizona Air National Guard flew Salt River Project and Arizona Public Service crews and trucks to areas hit by Hurricane Sandy on Friday, and they’ve been at work since they landed repairing a badly damaged electrical system.

MARK BRODIE: The state Department of Revenue says it’s taking the action in conjunction with tax relief provided by the IRS, and is acting under authority granted by state law to extend due dates and suspend interest and penalties that would accrue during federally declared disasters.

With the general election just days away, Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Democratic opponent has reached a fundraising peak, but is still dwarfed by the sheriff’s campaign account. According to the most recent campaign finance report, retired Phoenix Police Sergeant Paul Penzone has raised about $530,000 in total.
