prison complex remains locked down Monday morning, after a fight early Sunday involving
about 400 inmates. Corrections officials say they stopped the fighting fairly
quickly but that a couple staffers and 17 inmates were injured.

Home prices in the Phoenix area increased by 22.7 percent
in January making it the largest increase in the nation. CoreLogic’s report
released today says the change represents the 11th consecutive month

The Pima County Board of Supervisors officially opposes a planned natural gas pipeline. The Arizona Daily Star reports the board voted unanimously Tuesday to oppose a planned pipeline between Tucson and Sasabe.

An alternative route to the wrecked U.S. 89, south of Page,
has problems. The dirt-surfaced Navajo Route 20 runs parallel to the
landslide-damaged highway. It is a short-term fix for some commuters, but
accidents have been reported.

The Arizona Senate has approved a bill that lets employees at some rural schools be armed on campus.

SB 1325 allows teachers and staff to carry handguns if they work at a school that’s 20 miles and 30 minutes away from the nearest police station, that doesn’t have a school resource officer, and that has fewer than 600 students.
