( Phoenix, AZ ) If you live in Arizona, California or some other parts of the southwest and you have flu-like symptoms that won't go away you may have Valley Fever. Caused by a fungal spore in the desert dust The disease occurs when you simply inhale in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Valley Fever Center for Excellence in Tucson has just received a 4-point-five million-dollar grant from the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the NIH, to study Valley Fever. Dennis Lambert talks with Dr. John Galgiani who says much of the grant money will go to finding a vaccine for Valley Fever.
