Interview with Jerry Lawson
We were joined on Blues and Beyond by special guest, Jerry Lawson, the great Soul singer, Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame nominee, and founder of the legendary Persuasions. We were also joined in this interview by his wife and agent the wonderful, Julie Lawson - together we discussed Jerry's new project with the a capella group, Talk of the Town, from Northern California. We also discussed the making of Jerry's documentary, and his performance with Rod Stewart on the internationally televised Hurricane Katrina benefit.

Sonorous Live in the Studio
The Phoenix Bohemian Fusion Jazz/Blues group Sonorous brought their entire band into the Blues and Beyond studios and performed live songs from their album "Something Like That." Plus the guys talked about their music, and lead singer Matt Yazzie introduced Drew to his instrument called a Horn Dog. Also, special vocalist Lonna Kelley joined the group on a live performance of "Whiskey Makes Me." Sonorous has a very unique sound that contains many elements of Jazz, Soul, and Blues but you could easily imagine hearing it in a Romanian Circus, or be the soundtrack for a roaming band of Gypsy's.

Interview with Harold Winley
Listen to Drew's candid interview with the last living member of the original R&B group the Clovers, and currently the bass and narrator for the Inkspots, Harold Winley. He joined us for the entire program and discussed his transition from the Clovers to the Inkspots, his reason for doing so, and his relationship with the original Inkspots members. Interview with Jerry Lawson
Once again, Jerry Lawson, the founder and former lead singer of the Persuasions, joined us in studio and shared with Drew his heartfelt feelings about what the Persuasions have meant to him, and how he wants them to be remembered in history. Jerry also commented about the controversy over the tribute that he and the Persuasions recorded for Dr. Martin Luther King. Buckner is a talented songrwritter who often releases albums filled with slow, dark, deep, and personal material. He's a highly regarded songwriter who is currently living in Brooklyn, via Austin. Interview with Jerry Lawson
This was an amazing time in the studio with Jerry Lawson. He stopped by the Blues and Beyond studios to update the fans on his projects with two groups, Talk of the Town, and Cold Shott and the Hurricane Horns. Also, Jerry talked about his arrangement to travel to Russia and sing with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. And of course, Jerry breaks into song without warning throughout the entire interview.

Interview with Lou Pride

Interview with JJ Grey of Mofro
JJ Grey stopped by the studio to talk to Drew about his recent success with his group Mofro. The core of Mofro is rooted in the swamp lands of Northern Florida, but as we learn in this interview the band is very diverse with players from France, Britain, and Australia. JJ Grey talked about the challenge of signing with a record label, his early influences, and touring with the likes of Ben Harper, BB King, and Galactica.
